Our Mission
The mission of Alzheimer’s Services of the East Bay (ASEB) is to provide services to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementia; provide support for their caregivers; and educate and inform the general community about issues related to dementia care.
Our Services
- 3 Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) centers.
- An innovative “early-stage” program for individuals and families challenged by Alzheimer’s and related conditions.
- An extensive training and education program.
- Comprehensive Care Management and Family Support programs.

- To help individuals maintain their highest possible physical and mental health.
- To offer extensive support to families and caregivers.
The Community We Serve
- Nearly 65% of our current Adult Day Health Care participants are low income.
- 70% are minorities.
- 74% are women.
- 90% are over the age of 65 years.
Our Staff
- ASEB has 13 full-time and 24 part-time staff.
- We also contract with 17 additional professionals.
- For every 5 participants in our day program, there is at least 1 trained direct-care staff member.
Our Volunteers
About 48 volunteers per month contribute 225 hours of services to ASEB each month. Wow!

17 Board members with diverse expertise in health, finance, law, industry, and public policy guide us.
Accomplishments, since 1989
- Provided therapeutic and supportive activities to over 1,000 Adult Day Health Care participants.
- Provided over 6,000 hours of counseling support.
- Delivered 8,165 hours of physical, occupational and speech therapy.
- Facilitated 500 hours of family support groups.
- Provided over a half-million families with information and referral.
- Trained and educated 6,375 professionals and community members.
Program Recognition
- The respected Robert Wood Johnson Foundation chose ASEB as a model Adult Day program for its nation-wide Partners in Caregiving Demonstration Project.
- Award for management excellence from the Chevron Corporation and the Management Center.
Our Budget
- ASEB’s annual budget is $3.04 million.
- About 63% of ASEB’s revenue comes from fees for services; 17% from government service grants; 20% from private foundations, corporate support, individual gifts, and special fundraising events.
- ASEB receives Public Support from the Alameda County Agency on Aging, ACTIA , The City of Hayward, City of San Leandro, City of Oakland, City of Berkeley, and The California Department of Education.
