Leading experts on Alzheimer’s disease came together May 14-15, 2012 in Bethesda, MD, to identify research strategies that will accelerate the development of successful therapies. The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Summit 2012: Path to Treatment and Prevention was attended by an international group of 500 researchers, clinicians and members of the broader Alzheimer’s community. The topics that were discussed included the current understanding of the complex disorder, the need for more basic research into the pathobiology of Alzheimer’s disease, existing models and approaches to drug development, and new ideas to speed development of effective interventions for treatment and prevention.
