There are many other resources available for families facing the challenge of Alzheimer’s diease & dementia. They may be valuable sources of information, they may provide support groups in your area, they may provide in-home care, or they may be a live-in facility.
We have included contact information for some of these organizations here, but feel free to call any of our sites if you need additional help in determining which service best fits your needs.
The Alzheimer’s Association is a national research-based organization. They are a great resource for information about Alzheimer’s disease. They also provide support groups (some in conjunction with ASEB), and they may be a good choice for families outside of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pioneernetwork.net is the national organization devoted to changing the culture of long-term care. Its site contains many useful links.
Calculturechange.org is the state coalition affiliated with the Pioneer network. Its site contains a useful checklist of questions to ask when selecting a nursing home.
